Financial Aid and IE Scholarships

TTU Financial Aid

The Scholarship and Financial Aid offices (Roaden University Center Room 214) are the best sources of information about university-wide financial aid and scholarship opportunities. The scholarships listed below are for IE students only; some are for freshmen, transfer, or currently enrolled students.

For current students, the ISE Department awards scholarships from the Sid Gilbreath Endowment. Applications for this scholarship must be submitted via ScholarWeb by December 15 for the academic year beginning the following August. Recipients are announced at the annual ISE Awards Banquet. The number of students who receive this award, as well as the amount of the award, varies.

Steve and Milah Lynn Endowed Scholarship

The Steve and Milah Lynn Endowed Scholarship is designated for new or transfer students. It pays maintenance fees and is renewable for up to four years. This scholarship requires that a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) be filed for evaluation. Applications for this scholarship must be submitted via TTU ScholarWeb by December 15 for the academic year beginning the following August.

Rick Edwards Memorial Scholarship

The Richard K. Edwards Endowed Scholarship is for ISE students from Fentress County and pays maintenance fees for up to three years. This scholarship also requires a FAFSA evaluation. Applications for this scholarship must be submitted via TTU ScholarWeb by December 15 for the academic year beginning the following August.

Undergraduate Research Assistantships

The ISE Department sponsors a limited number of part-time summer assistantships for undergraduates interested in learning about graduate study in industrial engineering. An assistantship may require collection and/or analysis of data for a research project, writing a research paper, or some other specific approved activity under the supervision of an ISE faculty member. The objective of the undergraduate assistantship program is to help students learn about research and graduate study by providing them the opportunity for a realistic research experience.

Many other universities sponsor summer assistantships for undergraduates interested in research.  The ISE Department maintains a log of these opportunities and also sends electronic notices to ISE majors.

Co-operative Education

Co-op is a voluntary, independent educational program available for all undergraduate and graduate students in any academic area.  Work experience is gained with an employer who offers opportunities for learning related to a student's academic discipline.  The program provides careful supervision with timely evaluation of performance, attitude, and ability of the student on the job.  The goal is to help students grow and improve their capabilities.  Recently, ISE students have worked with such organizations as NASA, Milliken, John Deere, Denso, and Johnson Controls.
